Urban Soul is a collection where I reflect on human emotion in an urban environment. The emotions are not only shown through facial expressions or bodily movements but also with the use of abstract mixed media. The resemblance to figures and faces found in the city-like blocks in the background express vulnerability felt by women living alone in cities, where they are on an ongoing quest to survive. The lack of iconic buildings was done on purpose so the viewer can relate to the emotion and not be affected by the presence of the city. In some pieces I am capturing an emotion in a face, body or gesture and in others the vibrance of colours is the only indication of the mood of the city.
